Punta Arenas City
Punta Arenas port city at the southern end of the Chilean Patagonia. It is the capital of the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, located in southern Brunswick Peninsula on the shores of the Strait of Magellan and Cape Froward few kilometers, is the latest geographical point of Americas reachable by land. At this point, one can find islands and ocean to reach the Antarctic continent.
The city was founded in 1848 and is named after the British charts expeditions raised by the industry, which at that time was called Sandy Point (Sandy Point).
